What to Pack for Labor and Delivery and Baby
Ultimate hospital bag checklist
You would think after having done this twice before I’d be all over it – but to be honest it had all totally left my brain. I had written my hospital bag for the twins HERE and thank goodness because I had to look back at it. So I’ve written an Ultimate hospital bag checklist
I totally left this so late – but as it turns out – it was fine as I sit here writing this at 38+3 days pregnant, and Chris still hasn’t’ does his – but that ain’t my problem right ladies.
So for my Ultimate hospital bag checklist I’ve included what I’ve packed for my bag and the baby (almost wrote twins then). It was so different packing for just 1 baby – and when I was deciding what bag to to take I realised I did not need as much space for just 1 baby. Oh how different 1 baby is to 2.
Mums ultimate hospital bag
As with all the kids I’ll be in hospital for 4 nights ( which turned into 5 with the twins because of them being in special care and me having to have the vaginal and caesarean). And oh how I love it. Some people like to get home ASAP but for me I love my hospital. I love the care they give, the food is yummy, the room is big and my own ensuite. I know if I need anything it’s right there and on top of that – I don’t have to cook, clean or run around after 3 other kids. I get some peace and quiet, I get to really bond with the new baby in a quiet environment, Chris and I also get some quality time together, and I just get to breath for a second after carrying around this child for 9 months.
The checklist
So here goes – my Ultimate hospital bag checklist includes:
- Bubba bump postpartum undies – I LOVE these so much. They’re so comfy – high waisted – which was perfect for post caesar last time, and such amazing quality. You can use code THEFIGURE for 15% off her store.
- Bubba bump nursing bras and pumping bra.
- Leggings and comfy pants
- Maternity t-shirts for easy breastfeeding – I love the Ripe Maternity ones
- Compression socks from Bubba Bump
- Comfy PJ’s – I recently bought myself some nice Victoria Secret ones for the occasion
- Reusable breast pads from Bubba Bump. I prefer these for multiple reasons. Saves money, the environment of course, but are also so much softer on your skin.
- U by Kotex maternity pads. I HATE wings, they’re so uncomfortable and I love these ones. Big enough for doing the job, small enough to not be uncomfortable.
- Body and Face wipes from Jak Organics These are a go to in my hospital bag, but also whenever I travel. I have used them for years. Biodegradable and Australian. Use code THEFIGURE20
- In my wash bag there’s the usual including my deodorant from Wild. Use WILDDANNI for 20% off too. Bio oil is also in there as well as my Monat shampoo and conditioner of course.
Other items in my hospital bag
- I’ve been gifted a tens machine to borrow as well from The Hatchling Store. I used one with the twins and didn’t love it – but am happy to give it another go this time around.
- Funday Sweets of course, as this Mumma needs a sweet treat without interrupting her sleep. Use code DANNI10 as well
- My decaf green tea
- Metamucil – because that post birth poo can be ANNOYING.
- A book while the baby sleeps mummy gets some time to herself.
- My colostrum that I’ve been expressing
- and of course – a good bottle of Champagne! To celebrate ME!
Baby ultimate hospital bag
The baby’s hospital bag seem so small compared to the twins. I also was struggling to decide what size clothes we’d need.
Harper I took 3 zeros and some 4 zeros and the 3 zeros were MASSIVE on her 2.8kg body. We knew the twins were going to be small so I packed 4 zeros and a couple of 5 zeros. However Harlow was the size of a premie baby at 1.8kg so I ended up having to get some premie clothes delivered. However this baby is already measuring 3.5kg apparently – sooooooo I have no idea what size but here’s what I decided to do – in the bag itself I have put.
We haven’t found out what we’re having – even though we both have a feeling. So all our clothes and things are all very neutral at this stage. Once Bub is here Chris will jump on and grab some more gender specific colours to mix it up a little too. Brands I love are Country Road, Kynd, Seed, Pure Baby and Marquise baby. They all use beautiful fabrics that are nice and soft on baby skin. I wash them all in my Zero Co natural washing liquid on a cold, delicate wash before we use them too. So we have in the bag:
- 6 x 4 zeros onesies
- 2 x 3 zeros onesies
- 3 x 3 zero singlets
- 2 x 4 zero singlets
- 1 x muslin swaddle
- 1 x blanket
- Jak Organics Aqua wipes – my absolutely favourite and go to wipes. Use code thefigure20
- A going home outfit
- 2 x beanies
- 2 x booties
- 1 x toy
Ultimate hospital bag checklist – Bunnie Caddie
Then I also love to take my Bunny Caddie. This was a god send for the twins, it came to hospital, it was in our living room, got taken upstairs, downstairs. God send – everyone needs one. So here’s what I put in our bunny caddie.
- Bungie nappies. I haven’t used these before – I’ve been a rascals mum forever and may still go back but excited to try these
- More Jak Organics wipes
- 3 bamboo burper clothes, and 3 burner towels from Save our Sleep I LOVE these too.
- 1 x blanket
- 1 x muslin swaddle
- Soft flannels
- Comforter
- Announcement plaques – one of each as we’re not sure what were having from Woody’s Workshop which were custom made with Welcome world and birth details on the back.
I am getting so excited to meet this little person we waited for for so long. I hope this checklist has helped you plan for your birth too – or given you some inspo.
